IMPORTANT! Fuel surcharges on flights have increased.

06 April 2026

Airlines and tour operators are introducing fuel surcharges. What does this mean for passengers?

There has been an increase in recent cases where passengers have received notifications about additional fuel charges on existing bookings.

This is due to significant changes in aviation fuel prices: airlines and tour operators have begun introducing fuel surcharges on air tickets, particularly for charter flights. Such surcharges are already in effect or are planned for certain destinations, particularly during the summer tourist season.

What's happening with jet fuel prices?

The aviation fuel market is currently characterized by high volatility. This is influenced by global factors such as the global geopolitical situation, supply chain disruptions, and fluctuations in fuel demand.

As a result, jet fuel prices can fluctuate significantly over short periods of time.  Since fuel is a key component of air travel, this directly impacts the prices of airline tickets and tours.

Why does the fuel surcharge exist?

Charter flights are priced more flexibly than scheduled flights and are based on the carrier's actual costs. Therefore, airlines and tour operators use fuel surcharges as a cost adjustment tool. This helps avoid sharp increases in the base price, takes into account actual fuel costs, and ensures flight operations are not cancelled.

Or is this simply a ticket price increase? No.  The fuel surcharge is not an arbitrary price increase.  It's a technical mechanism that allows air travel prices to be adjusted to actual costs in an unstable market.

How do fuel surcharges work?

  • For new bookings, the surcharge may be immediately included in the price.
  • for already created applications it can be added later
  • The final amount is often determined closer to the departure date.

This is due to the fact that the actual cost of fuel is determined during the execution of the flight program.

As an airline booking service, we do not set fuel surcharges or influence their amounts. We rely on information from airlines and tour operators.
If a surcharge is imposed on your request, we will notify you individually immediately after receiving official information.

Important

Fuel surcharges are set specifically by airlines and tour operators and are used industry-wide. They are not a decision made by individual booking services.

We understand that such surcharges may create inconvenience and unpredictable expenses for passengers, and we hope for your understanding. However, in the current climate, this is the reality of the air travel market, influenced by global factors.
